About Protein Aisle
Protein Aisle is a small, independent Australian website. It ranks high-protein foods at Coles, Woolworths and ALDI by how much protein you get for your money.
We aren't owned by or affiliated with any supermarket. Rankings are based on price and the nutrition label only. How we calculate
Our price checker: ProteinAisleBot
To keep prices current, a small program reads the public product pages of the products we list. When it visits Coles and ALDI it identifies itself as:
ProteinAisleBot/1.0 (+https://proteinaisle.com.au/about/)
- It only reads public pages that the store's robots.txt allows, and Coles's product sitemaps, which Coles lists in its robots.txt. It never uses search pages, logins, carts or checkouts.
- It is slow on purpose. At Coles it reads a few dozen product pages a day, about 8 seconds apart, oldest first, so each product is checked every few days.
- It stops when asked. If a store shows a block or bot check, it stops reading that store for the day. It never tries to get around a block: no proxies, no switching addresses and no disguising itself.
- It never guesses. Every price shows the date it was checked. A price we couldn't recheck is dropped after a few days.
